CSMG Announces Inclusion of Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge at CECC May Madness 2025
Stamford, CT – February 25, 2025 – Collegiate Sports Management Group (CSMG) is thrilled to announce the addition of the Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge (MECC) to the upcoming Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup (CECC) May Madness 2025. This exciting integration will feature four elite teams including the University of Arizona, the University of Kentucky, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and hailing from Australia: the University of Technology Sydney, showcasing their exceptional Excel skills on an international stage.
These four teams previously faced off in the MECC 2024 Team Finals in Las Vegas, where the University of Tennessee-Knoxville narrowly won in an intense battle. Now, they have the opportunity to meet again, reigniting their rivalry and showcasing their Excel expertise on an even bigger stage at CECC May Madness 2025.
The MECC, established in 2022, has rapidly gained recognition as a premier global platform for college and university students to enhance their Excel proficiency through engaging challenges and competitions. With participants from over 120 countries and territories and representation from more than 800 schools, MECC has grown into a truly international event. Students worldwide tackle real-world scenarios, developing critical skills in financial modeling and data analysis while competing at the highest level.
David Brown, founder of the MECC, expressed his enthusiasm: "Integrating the MECC into CECC May Madness 2025 is a monumental step in highlighting the importance of analytical skills in the collegiate competitive arena. We're excited to see students from around the globe demonstrate their Excel expertise in this prestigious event."
Michael Schreck, founder of CSMG, added: "The inclusion of the Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge aligns perfectly with our mission to showcase diverse talents within collegiate competitions. We are proud to provide a platform that celebrates both gaming and academic excellence globally, further enriching the CECC May Madness experience."
The CECC May Madness 2025 is set to take place May 2-4 at Esports Stadium Arlington in Texas, renowned as the largest in-person scholastic esports event in North America. The 2024 event attracted over 4 million views and 4,100 attendees, and the upcoming 2025 event marks the fifth year of CECC's celebration of collegiate esports excellence.
