Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup Texas Presented by McDonald’s Reveals Schedule of Events

Tournament Selection Show, Middle/High SchoolOmega Strikers and Super Smash Bros Tournaments, Collegiate Esports Awards, Onsite Activations, and 64 teams competing across four gaming titles to deliver “May Madness”

STAMFORD, CT (May 3, 2023) – All roads lead to Esports Stadium Arlington as the  Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup Texas (CECC Texas) presented by McDonald’s will welcome 64 teams participating through multiple conferences and associations across North America. The students will compete in four gaming titles during a jammed packed weekend of events during the “May Madness” of collegiate esports on May 6-7, 2023. Collegiate programs will be well represented as they face off in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Overwatch 2®, Rocket League, and VALORANT, including the first all-women’s team, a historic HBCU program, several nationally ranked programs, and a Service Academy. Tickets are on sale at www.cecc.gg with weekend and single-day passes available.

“We can’t wait to welcome the student-athletes, coaches, and fans from across North America to CECC Texas,” said Angela Bernhard Thomas, Chief Esports Officer for CSMG/ESPORTSU. “The Road to Texas is the culmination of a year of unforgettable competition with several online and in-person events to qualify the best college teams to compete in one of the most iconic esports venues in the world.” 

McDonald’s has played a significant role in building excitement and awareness including various promotions and giveaways through the McDonald’s App. Fans can earn the chance to win a free custom @McDonalds PC built by @PCGamerzHawaii by downloading the McDonald’s App and completing an official contest form here. McDonald’s is also sponsoring Howard University as the first Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) team to compete at CECC Texas. 

The weekend kicks off on May 5 with a private red carpet ceremony for all 64 teams including the presentation of the McDonald’s branded jerseys they will wear during CECC Texas which will be unveiled to the public for the first time.

The weekend festival-like atmosphere is more than just a competition. The best esports athletes and fans will enjoy various activities, including an awards show, middle/high school tournaments, Vendor Village, Partner Activations, Cosplay Costume Contests, Esports Celebrity Meet & Greets, “footbrawler” Omega Strikers and fan favorite Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
