Stony Brook Athletics Announces Largest Linear Television Package in Program History with 20 Basketball Games on SNY

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook University Athletics Department has announced a linear television agreement with SNY for 20 basketball games during the 2023-24 season. SNY will air 10 Stony Brook men's basketball games and 10 women's basketball games this season. The 20-game package is the largest linear television deal in program history.

As of November 2, Stony Brook's 20-game deal with SNY to broadcast men's and women's basketball is the largest college basketball linear television agreement of any mid-major program in the Tri-state area.

"SNY provides a tremendous platform to showcase Stony Brook University to an expanded television audience across the northeast region and beyond. We view our relationship with SNY as a powerful mechanism to promote not only Stony Brook men's and women's basketball, but also the institution as a whole," said Director of Athletics Shawn Heilbron.

Tyler Stephenson-Moore and Keenan Fitzmorris return to lead the men's basketball team. The two combined for more than 750 points last season and 250 rebounds; they were both top-three on the team in numerous offensive categories, including points, rebounds, field goals, and free-throws. Following the 2022-23 season, Stephenson-Moore was tabbed to the All-CAA Third Team, becoming the first student-athlete in program history to take home a CAA All-Conference honor. On October 19, Stephenson-Moore was selected to the Preseason All-CAA Second Team.

Graduate student Gigi Gonzalez and junior Sherese Pittman look to lead the CAA's second-best women's basketball scoring offense from a season ago after both student-athletes earned All-CAA honors. Pittman made her presence felt on Long Island in her first season by averaging 13.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game. The floor general for the Seawolves, Gonzalez finished the 2022-23 season with 4.3 assists per game, which were the second-most in the conference. The Floridian also tallied a career-best 12.7 points per game.

Stony Brook was picked second in the 2023-24 CAA Preseason Poll, while Pittman was named to the Preseason All-Season First Team and Gonzalez earned Preseason All-CAA Second Team honors.
