Charlotte, NC - COVID-19 has changed the landscape of sports not only for the current season, but likely forever.  Esports is not immune to this. However, the NJCAAE together with its strategic partner Collegiate Sports Management Group are developing ways for us to keep our junior college students engaged and active during this period of adjustment. 

Today, the NJCAAE announces a series of “Community Nights” which will involve a variety of esports games, competitions, and events.  This will include game titles we are already offering as well as some new events. The new event we are excited to announce is an NBA 2K Tournament.  Registration for the tournament opens today at 3:00 p.m. and will be left open until Friday, March 27, 2020. The tournament will include 256 junior college students from across the country competing in four 64 team brackets for a chance to qualify for the Final 64 bracket. The top 16 players from each bracket will be seeded in the final 64 championship bracket and will have a chance to be named the NJCAAE 2020 NBA2K champion.

This tournament is open to NJCAAE players and individuals who are junior college students of non-member NJCAAE schools. Individual players can participate by registering through our NJCAAE Discord channel. Please reach out to the NJCAAE team at if you are interested in participating.

NJCAAE partner, eFuse, will donate a $1,500 scholarship to the winning player and $1,000 to the runner up. eFuse is the professional hub for esports and video game players: verified gaming portfolios, social networking feeds, job placements, and scholarships. All participants are encouraged to set up an eFuse account and join their esports social media community. The third-place finisher will receive a gaming chair from Raynor Gaming. The NJCAAE continues its growth following its initial season by providing two-year colleges with governance, competition and official national championships in collegiate esports, while also providing guidance and positive development for two-year colleges to build and operate esports programs. The NJCAAE and CSMG will continue working to enhance NJCAAE and make a greater positive impact in our member schools’ communities.

The National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE), founded in 2019, is the only national esports governing body exclusively for two-year colleges.
