Collegiate Sports Management Group and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Join Forces in Multi-Faceted Agreement
CSMG will focus on media and sponsorship rights as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation eyes aggressive growth
STAMFORD, CT (July 12, 2022) – Collegiate Sports Management Group (CSMG) has entered into a four-year, multi-faceted agreement with the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation to support the conference’s plans for growth under Commissioner Foti Mellis, which includes adding new sports and member institutions in 2022 and beyond. CSMG will initially focus on media and sponsorship rights among its integrated business growth solutions for its clients.
“We are grateful to Foti and his team for leaning into our expertise and track record, to share in his vision regarding growing the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation,” said Ray Katz, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer for CSMG. “We are driven by having a lens on what’s next as we transform traditional sports and esports in the new creator economy, and extremely excited about strengthening our West Coast presence as CSMG continues to build rapidly towards a true national footprint.”
The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) was established in 1992-1993 to serve specific-competitive needs of member institutions primarily from the western region of the United States. Those institutions are also members of a wide selection of Division I conferences, including the Big West, Pac-12, Mountain West, West Coast Conference and Western Athletic Conference. The MSPF provides championship competition for Division I Intercollegiate Olympic sports in a conference setting.
The MPSF sponsors men’s and women’s competition in the following sports: water polo, indoor track and field, gymnastics, swimming and diving and fencing, as well as women’s artistic swimming and men’s volleyball. The men’s and women’s water polo and men’s volleyball conference champions earn automatic qualification in the NCAA Championships, and will be among the focal points in CSMG’s commercialization efforts. In 2022-23, the MPSF will sponsor competition in 11 Intercollegiate Olympic sports, while serving 72 teams from 37 universities across 13 states.
The MPSF has also been well represented in the last seven Olympic games dating back to 1996. Most recently in Tokyo 2020, 141 current or former MPSF student-athletes and coaches participated and brought home a total of 35 medals, including 22 gold.
“Our conference is rich with a winning tradition as we are the only conference outside the P5 to collect over 100 NCAA championships,” said Mellis. “We are looking forward to leveraging CSMG’s proprietary valuation methodology to better understand the power of our conference and maximize our value in the marketplace for our member institutions. I’d like to thank Ray Katz, Mike Blewitt and the entire CSMG team for all their efforts in making this partnership possible. The MPSF looks forward to shared success in the coming years.”
